 Gene Crampton of Performance Equine Therapy practices equine bodywork with the goal of releasing tension in horses and helping riders better understand their horses. Gene's experience can help any range of horses, from pasture pets to international competition horses. This event is hosted by the OSU Event Team and therefore has a $5.00 entrance fundraising fee.

At the Beginner Horse Handling Workshop, Dr. Sherwood will discuss basic horse behavior and safety, give a demonstration regarding safe haltering and leading, and then allow students to practice this haltering and leading.  This workshop is designed for students who have little to no horse handling experience. This volunteer opportunity consists of a short tour of the Oregon Horse Rescue, training session by OHR staff regarding the basics of safe horse handling, grooming demonstration, and chores such as throwing hay bales, cleaning stalls, picking the arena, and de-rocking paddocks.  Large Animal Lottery Magruder Hall, Room 298Observing at the  OSU Lois Bates Acheson Large Animal Hospital is a great way to gain knowledge regarding large animal medicine. During your observing hours, you may watch surgeries and treatments, ask the doctors and fourth-year veterinary students any questions you may have about veterinary school or medicine, and watch many other exciting events unfold! Please bring your insurance card and class schedule to this event if you are interested in signing up for up to six hours of observing time per week in one of two four-week observing blocks during winter term.  Jan. 11th, 2019 at 4:00 P.M. - Feb. 11th, 2019 at 8:00 A.M. Lambing Crew OSU Sheep Center Lambing Crew is an excellent way to gain exciting, hands-on veterinary experience with the birthing and nursing of over 100 of OSU's lambs. Returning volunteers must attend lambing orientation at 6:00 P.M. on October 18th, and new volunteers must attend lambing orientation at 6:00 P.M. on October 25th, though additional orientation is available as needed. Interested individuals should contact Mary Smallman, the director of the OSU Sheep Center, at either (541) 231-4299 or mary.smallman@oregonstate.edu for more information.

 Mock Multiple Mini Interviews (MMI's) Magruder Hall, Room 298 Many veterinary school applicants are required to participate in MMI's during their application processes. Mock MMI's are an excellent way to practice for these MMI's. Mock MMI's are identical in structure and format to MMI's, including interview questions and veterinarian interviewers. Juniors and seniors will be given precedence in signing up for this event, though all PVMA due-paying members are allowed to observe mock MMI's. To attend this workshop, you need to either have prior equine experience or have attended the Beginner Horse Handling Workshop. At this hands-on workshop, Dr. Sherwood will demonstrate how to obtain vitals such as pulse (by feel and stethoscope), gut sounds, temperature, and respiration.  Wildlife Safari Trip and TourWildlife Safari

Wildlife Safari is a safari park home to hundreds of animals that wander freely over the 600 acres, which guests can drive through. The park also includes a walk-through exhibit displaying some of the park's smaller animals. On our trip to Wildlife Safari, we will be touring the animal and veterinary facilities, as well as consulting with the veterinarians.
